The Railway Children

We have decided that our charity this term will be The Railway Children. Railway children live on the streets and the railway tracks in India and Africa.
The money we bring for the charity will help these children in may different ways. £1 will provide enough food to feed a child in India for a week. £25 will buy the medicines to treat 100 children who have malaria and £50 will fund thirty children in a school in India for a month, providing them with their education, food and healthcare.
There are more than 150 million railway children and street children around the world. The streets of big cities are the only home some of the children will ever know. In India, children as young as 6 years of age resort to begging and fetching and carrying for people in order to survive. They often do this near the railway lines.
This term, we could help to change life for some of these children through our generosity.
