Overseas Links
St Mary's Primary School has built up a number of links with schools across Europe. We have completed two successful Comenius Projects with partners in Finland, Germany, France, Romania and Slovakia. These have enabled hundreds of pupils to learn about the lives of children in different countries. Many have established close friendships through penfriend letters and email. Some Year Six pupils have had the opportunity, through these projects, to visit partner schools in Germany and France.
Each year we welcome secondary school pupils from Bremerhaven in Germany as they undertake work experience in Beverley.
Teachers from Norway taking part in a course at York University also visit our school each year.
Our third Comenious project saw 28 pupils and 16 teachers from six schools visit St Mary's in April 2006. They stayed with our own pupils and staff. There will be future project meetings in Finland, Poland, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden and opportunities for pupils to travel to some of these places.
